Ill come back and let you know how it goes, thanks for the suggestion.
Windows Vista Service Pack 0 9200 Update Method IIve tried closing all non-essential processes before installing as well as following the troubleshooting guide at: No matter which update method I use I get this error, Service Pack did not install, Reverting changes.I wonder why Microsoft wouldnt program their OS to tell us WHY it did not install At least when I use the stand alone installer I get an error code 0x80004005 ( why not for Windows Update version though ) and a link to that web page above.Ive tried all the methods and used System Mechanic 7 to look for problems.
No joy. So far it looks as if I might have to do a clean install of Vista before adding Service Pack 1 but Id rather avoid that since Ive just nicely got my system set up the way I like it. Even if I do a clean install, its not forced to make the Service Pack complete its installation. Although Ive created a Hard disk image with Acronis True Image Home 11 on my external drive I can always recover my current set-up if the clean install doesnt work. But its going to take a lot of time and Ive just spent many hours with it already. I know I might have to wait for a Tool to show up on Windows Update that might fix the problem but after checking that for the past couple of days no such tool has shown up yet. Windows Vista Service Pack 0 9200 Drivers To BeI might have to wait for new drivers to be written but surely these wouldve been developed during the release candidates of SP1 Bullguard Internet Security 8.0 has been disabled from starting with Windows. After some hours of trying to solve this problem myself, I cant seem to find a solution. I managed to get an updated audio driver installed, after that SP1 showed up as avaliable via windows update. I downloaded the update and started the installation process. I did not disable antivirus or antispyware or wireless connection during this first attempt. I will try again tomorrow and disable these items before I proceed with the install. I find myself spending more time troubleshooting problems than being productive using the computer. I also receive the message Service Pack did not install, Reverting changes. Windows Vista Service Pack 0 9200 32 Bit With MyI bought Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit with my Dimension 9200 from Dell. Could it be, that Windows perceives my Dell-version of Vista as a cracked one Its really annoying, i tried it twice and i always end up in a white screen with the 3 options of buying a original key, entering another key or search for help on the internet. I cant use Vista after failing to install Service Pack 1 anymore. My only chance is going back to a Restorepoin, so at the moment i have to renounce Service Pack 1. Looking forward to hearing from you Maybe theres a solution Trymops. If I have to do a clean install, at the moment it looks like I may, I hope I dont get the same problem. Have you tried a clean install The main thing is that we have a common problem and the more people who mention it, the better chance we have of finding a solution. It just irritates me that everytime I get Windows set-up just right that something eventually comes along and ruins the installation so I have to start clean.
